In Reply To: DLI rates languages by difficulty, and state dept. has a page that rates your proficiency 0-5. I believe serb-croat is a cat. III like all the slavic langs. Native prof. is a 5 (nice) ANOTHER QUESTION: part of the work i have done overseas was international consulting/junior advising. The firm was corporate and not-government related, but the country in question in terms of US foreign policy is best described as "wait and see." Is that going to be a problem for me? I mean, what type of work do they expect you to get over there- teaching english- please..
Message: You may have the language skills and intelligence and so called "street smarts", but that doesn't mean you have the most important thing they're looking for: A deep intuitive talent for the job accompanied by a specific personality. There are very, very few people who have the intuition as well as personality. When placed in a tight situation, how do you react? How do you think? Can you think in an original and creative way?
