Everyone-
Here's a little background on myself. I graduated from the Engineering school with a degree in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering in 2001. I initially joined a Accenture (a technology consulting company) after graduation and gained some valuable experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Now, two years out of college, I've realized that I wanted to move my career in a new direction. The prospect of a career move into Financial Services, and more specifically, investment banking or securities analysis, is incredibly exciting. I realize that the current climate in financial services is extremely competitive, but in order to make myself more marketable and show my commitment to the financial services industry, I'm currently taking the CFA Level 1 in December, and the Level 2 in July.
Is there anything I can do to make myself more marketable to companies, as a recent college graduate? How receptive are banks to individuals looking to switch careers? Should I try looking for a job only after I pass the Level 1 CFA? Can anyone point me in the right direction for someone to talk for career advice or available jobs? Should I be looking at head hunters / recruiters? What's the best way to obtain a position in investment banking? asset management?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Dear nmv:
Start networking now - join prof. groups, ask everyone you know who they know who might help you, etc. Try to get some informational interviews w/people who are doing what you want to do. Ask their advice.
Your pharma exp. may be a great asset. ID co's that will value that!
Best of luck,
Jane
