In Reply To: I'm hoping someone can provide some insight. I'm currently in an unbarable job and would desparately like a new job. I've been looking for quite some time but without any luck. I have not tried head hunters or recruiters yet, my experience has been that they have little to offer. What does anyone have to say about quitting the current job and concentrating all my efforts and a new one? Does anyone have any stories or advice? I must stress my current situation is not good.
Message: One alternative to quitting because the job stress was a danger to your health and maybe your fitness as a potential employee elsewhere is that you can take FMLA (if your company is eligible) or a leave of absence to get yourself together. You may still be able to carry your benefits but not receive pay, but it does buy you time to sort things out and use your time wisely. You can look elsewhere or find ways to improve your current job. Is there another part of the company that you could work in? Contact someone over there to see if they can make some room for you. You might find that you have to jump ship, but look for a liferaft on board first. You can't go back for it after you quit. (Been there, done that.)
