In Reply To: Hi folks, I borrowed the same title as the previous post because I have exactly the same question. What career is best for me ?? I have tried the career/personality books but they are too wide in scope. My personality type is ISFJ ( Myers Brieg ) and I would some up my perosnality as being sensitive, interested in caring for indivuduals and thier needs, prefer good works environments with little conflict and I like to work on small teams or with a few individuals at a time - sometimes even one on one. My background is computers/software support. Currently, I work in a large company often times by myself with limited interaction. If there is a problem I fix it - but I don't get much satisfaction and I have none of the conditions i listed above. Any thoughts friends or palces to visit on the web ??
Message: Hi JG, My name is Irene and I'm new to the board. Actually, I've been lurking a bit, and decided this would be a good topic to post on :-) I had a similar situation, where I was in a job that didn't give me the level of interaction with others that I needed or wanted. Since my career was centered around being in marketing strategy, I dealt with alot of data and no humans. I kept getting interview (the few that I could get) in the same type of environment. Trying to change careers was tougher than I thought, particularly in this employment climate that we are in. I made the decision to create my own career and started my own business, doing what I'm actually good at.LOL I realize that starting a business is not for everyone, but I just thought I'd throw that out there to you. Is there anything that you can do to create your own ideal situation? Maybe you can do what I did and take a look at what you really like to do, write it down and then figure out how you can bring your gifts to be of service to others. I wont lie to you and tell you it has been easy or that it has happened overnight, but I am much more fulfilled now than ever before. I hope this helped a little. Irene
