You don't get into too much detail about what you do or what is happening to cause such a negative work environment. That would make a difference in my response. However, as an HR mgr, I strongly recommend not quitting without something else lined up. It's very risky financially, and it doesn't look good on a resume to sit idle. Quitting to escape a bad work environment wouldn't be what I'd want to hear. It might make me think you can't stick out or be relied upon when things get tough. Also, maybe this adverse work experience can be made a positive in how you handle it and what you learn from it. Some interviewers might ask you a question like 'give a negative situation and how you handled it'.
The only exceptions here: illegal activities or personal detriment, health or otherwise.
Get those resumes out full force, try a different headhunter, adjust your attitude. Good luck.
