In Reply To: I graduated 2 years ago w/a double major in sociology and communications. I had a sales asst. position at a large publication, but I quit b/c not only did I have a horrible manager, but the job was insulting. I felt as I wasn't challenged enough, and I hated the fact that I was helping make money for a woman I despised. I want to get into public policy/non- profit arena. I want something that is intellectually stimulating, as well as purposeful. However, I feel as though no organization will hire me b/c I don't have any experience in these fields. Does anyone have any advice?
Message: You don't indicate what sort of research you have done but have you tried looking at the Chronicle on Philanthropy which has an extensive list of job postings? (www.philanthropy.com). You might also look at the Charity Channel and the Foundation Center websites, both of which have some useful resources. With your sales background, you could probably make a fairly smooth transition into fundraising if that interests you. Good luck.
