In Reply To: Has anyone out there had any experience with outfits like R. L. Stevens or Bernard Haldane? They hold themselves out as "career counselors" rather than headhunters. I am told that unlike most headhunters (whose fees are paid by the employers), you have to pay these firms yourself. Any idea what they charge? and more importantly, is it worth it? I am an in-house attorney with a struggling company and am looking for a new job, or even a career change, and so far the headhunters have not been much help. Thanks.
Message: Firms like Bernard Haldane have often run into problems with the States Attorney Generals over the years because they use pressure tactics to have clients sign significant contracts and then don't deliver what they promise. Check out any firm carefully with references of former clients and Better Business Bureau records, etc. Generally, you are better off with professional career counselors and coaches not affiliated with these kinds of organizations.
