In Reply To: For the first two years out of college I worked for two different companies as a Commerical Banking Credit Analyst. I quit last october because I grew very bored with it and realized that that field wasn't what I wanted to do. So 7 months later in May, I needed a job and took a position in the Corporate Communications department of a financial research firm. The pay is ok and I am looking to pursue a job in marketing. Right now I am not on any career track and I have no idea if this job will lead me anywhere inside the firm to something moore interesting. Right now I take phone call inquiries from the outside (kinda like customer service) but also do some career enhancing work. But beleive me this is just a money job and isn't that enhancing. My question is, since I've had three jobs in three years when should I leave this job for a better marketing job once I realize I won't move up here? Should I stay here for two years and answer phones just to show some loyalty on a resume? Please help me I feel like I'm not moving anywhere.
Message: Dear ap: Sounds like the first thing to do is ASK your supv. what the possibilities are! If it's bad news, then start finding out what you have to do to get into the mktg work that you want (ed/exp?). Best wishes, Jane
