Dear Jane,
I appreciate your advice regarding networking....
Fortunately, I do know people who know me pretty well and who have achieved a lot in this life.
Although, I do feel that you think that I am a very ambitious "rapacious/greedy" person :) who only wants to get enriched or something. I would better be mistaken here though.
Kind of in opposition to the whole world. Old theory. Michael Milken who hides his millions somewhere and at the same time gently works as a math instructor for underprivileged children....
I just always keep in mind two things:
1. unfortunately, there're thousands of dawdlers who came to America simply to live here while other talented and educated people simply had no chance to move here. That proves one rule - you should be as persistent as possible in your career to prove to yourself ....that you came here to achieve something.
2. there're people who go to top business schools only because they really want to do something more valuable for others than just being a volunteer.
But let's not exclude personal motivational factor here.... that would be too much, frankly. :)
Anyways, I appreciate your comment.
Sincerely.

Dear Ex:
I'm afraid that you misread my message to you. Nothing about your post indicated that you are greedy/rapacious. My intent with the charity example was to tell you of someone who networked while doing something important to her (in addition to prof'l groups).
Best wishes to you,
Jane
