Has anyone out there had any experience with outfits like R. L. Stevens or Bernard Haldane? They hold themselves out as "career counselors" rather than headhunters. I am told that unlike most headhunters (whose fees are paid by the employers), you have to pay these firms yourself. Any idea what they charge? and more importantly, is it worth it?
I am an in-house attorney with a struggling company and am looking for a new job, or even a career change, and so far the headhunters have not been much help.
Thanks. |

You want to think very carefully before you sign up with the folks who charge beaucoup bucks - yes, $1000s -that must be paid UPFRONT. "What Color Is Yr Parachute?" has a what to stay away from section in the back that will guide you.
Career coaches and counselors don't make you prepay for the whole program. It's usually a month in advance with refund cheerfully given if you're not satisfied.
