I would not quit your job - but just look for another job while you are working. No matter what job you are in, you should always keep an updated resume and sporatically search monster.
This job might not be what you want to do for the rest of your life - look for ways to make it work for you, in a work experience/growth way. Ask for more responsibilities - network, but in the economy today I would not quit till you have another job lined up.
Oh - I ditto the first responder, what do you want to do? What are your goals? |

While I can't speak of the future, as of right now I would like to work in corporate finance (not investment banking, at a company as an F. Analyst). I would like to work my way up from an analyst position to management (treasurer, CFO, Controller, maybe even CEO) I know those are lofty goals, but I would like to progress along a path that would take me into upper management after starting as an Analyst. I took my current position because I thought that it sounded interesting and challenging. I thought that it would impress future employers and perhaps help me land a position that I seek. Now I feel as though it may hinder me rather than help. It is a sales and trading position. Will this position requiring sales, (and analytical ability) pigean-hole down a career of only sales? Thanks so much for all your help.
