In Reply To: What should I do???? I am a recent college graduate in my second month at my first job. I work at a regional investment firm as an assistant trader. I do not like my job and regret accepting it. This sounds crazy, but it does not line up with my career goals. I would like to work in a corporate finance department eventually upper or middle management. The job I have now is more of a sales and trading postion. I took the position because it sounded interesting and there is a possibility for an excellent income. Basically, I rushed my decision. Should I quit and find a new job more in line with what i want to do or should I tough it out for a little while and then get a new job? Will I be able to get a position in accounting/finance with this kind of experience? Should I work for a couple of years in this position and then get an mba and try to leverage that to a position in line with my goals? Any constructive help would be appreciated! Thanks so much K
Message: I would not quit your job - but just look for another job while you are working. No matter what job you are in, you should always keep an updated resume and sporatically search monster. This job might not be what you want to do for the rest of your life - look for ways to make it work for you, in a work experience/growth way. Ask for more responsibilities - network, but in the economy today I would not quit till you have another job lined up. Oh - I ditto the first responder, what do you want to do? What are your goals?
