I have been in healthcare for 10 years and need to get. My degree will be a generalized bachelor's with a minor in speech communication. What does anyone think of my chances into going into consulting? I see that Arthur Andersen hires people with Liberal Arts degrees and trains them to what they want. Does anyone think that I should even bother to apply? Or does anyone else have any suggestions? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you! |

I believe that when you were talking about Andersen Consulting you meant Accenture, right? Because Andersen Consulting, what is now - use to be Arthur Andersen. It's kinda a long story.
I use to work for Accenture, quit for a career change, but I can tell you that they are getting away from traditional consuting (travel) and more towards a "regular" company model. They are also going through some resource allocation problems - so I would wait atleast a year before going there because they are not in a good place right now.
As far as Andersen Consulting/ the consulting side of Arthur Andersen - they are in a really bad place - and I would not consider going that direction - for atleast 2 years.
Visiting the consulting message boards - it might help.
I would research companies that consult in areas of your expertice. Because if you go into a company like Accenture, they will have you coding and making ppt slides for the first couple years - till you prove your expert knowledge in one area.
