I have a bachelor's in accounting. I am currently a payroll accountant for a school district. I've worked 1 year here and prior to that 4 years as a cost accountant/ estimator for a private mfg company. I am very bored. The work is very boring and meaningless to me. I don't know if public acounting is much different. I've considered taking the CPA exam and applying for a job at a CPA firm, but I don't know if this will solve my problem. I'd like to hear from other accountants, public & private, and from others who are or have been in my position. I'd greatly appreciate some advice. Also, I'm open to listening to new career options outside of the business world. I've considered pharmacist and teacher. Thank you.
