I think that I have made the mistake that many have already made, of falling into Media Planning just because the job came across my path and I was desparate. I semi-enjoy it, but I clearly am not satisfied.
I have just finished college in December so although I know I'm not giving it a fair shot (I started in March), I know that I will want to change in a year or so (if not sooner). After doing some research, and working with our clients, I am getting more and more interested in Brand Management on the marketing side.
Does anyone know how the transition fares with those who have done it (if it has been done)? Will I have to start ALL OVER again? Is it even possible to do without an MBA? What are entry level positions and salaries like?
My experience, unfortunately, only consists of media planning in the ad industry (current job and 1 internship). I do have an ivy league degree under my belt and decent GPA, but I don't know if that will really help much.... Advice? Suggestions? Any is highly appreciated.

Dear sig,
Hmm, a few months isn't much time to evaluate a job... Have you asked if it gets better with time? On the other hand, why not start exploring the other? For salary ideas, go to some salary comp. sites (Vault has one, too). For your other questions, find someone who's doing what you want to do & ask 'em what it what takes for you to get in. I do suggest that you spend time gathering as much info as possible so you don't wind up in something else that turns out to be not what you really want.
Best of luck,
Jane
