I have some experience in consulting, but not in management services,more of an industry specific consulting for Transportation.
I have several "good" references, but am finding the fact that I did not attend a top ten B-School being the biggest challenge to even getting my foot in the door, (although I have a had some luck with the follow up and thank you letter system at getting some call backs)
So it is a mix of breaking into the industry and going back to consulting... |

One word: networking. Build on your good refs, expand your network. Identify who's doing what you want to do & ask for an informational interview. Ask their advice on what you need to do. Ask how they got there.
