The most valuable marketing employees within an organization are people with sales experience. Too many marketing people with whom I have had to work over the years were great with theory, and useless in terms of understanding customer motivations. In order to market, you must understand how to sell. A decent sales job will also keep you at an income level which is closer to what you make now.
I have many years of sales experience, and now hold the title of VP of Marketing for a rapidly growing company focused on selling educational products in international markets. |

Hello,
I am a "recovering" lawyer, interested in making a transition to a non-law job in an international business. I have lived but not worked abroad, am a French-speaker, and am interculturally aware.
My personality is not your typical lawyer--I am friendly, warm, intuitive,, good with people-- and have spent years persuading, image-building, consulting, and marketing professional services. Would marketing/sales be a reasonable choice for me? And how about opportunities with your company? Anyone else have any suggestions? Willing to step down in salary, and to relocate. Thanks
