i've been in marketing communications for almost 15 years and i can't bear to even think about getting another job in that industry. i'm currently unemployed. just turned 40. have an mba. i want to break into the cable television industry - and i'm willing to do just about ANYTHING (meaning - yes, i'll be a secretary) to get my foot in the door. but how do i get past their reservations about being "overqualified"??? won't they think i'll just quit as soon as something better comes along? |

Dear onward:
Sounds like your fears are stopping you - your ideas about what reaction you'll get. Why not approach them with your enthusiasm & determination to do anything to learn the biz? Convince them you're serious about this career change!
Can you volunteer to get your foot in the door? Would you be willing to do marcom for them?
Best wishes,
Jane
