Reason for leaving: layoff. And note that the co. is out of business (you don't have to put this on your resume). It's good that you have a ltr of rec, but it would be helpful to have more than 1 ref. from that co. Contact the person (who you do have contact info for) & try to track down people who will give you a good rec. if you need more than the ltr.

Dear Jane:
Thanks so much for helping out. I recently managed to find out from one person (who used to be a layoff victim from a very large company) that it would be best to get in touch with a few of my other co-workers who at least knew me well.
I know one individual who oversaw a majority of my progress right from Day One. In the last several months I was employed, we basically sat no more than six feet away from each other.
Thank you for your advice, and I am definitely going to need all the luck I can get.
