Maybe you should try reading this book, How to Win Friends and Influence People. It's about the art of negotiation and having people see things your way. This might be helpful for this job, or even future positions.

The company has been reorganizing and has been downsizing letting several people go. Now I'm free to look at other opportunities and spend 40 hours per week in my job search. I never would have taken the job in the first place had I known that my job description would never materialize, etc. Seriously, next time I'll think twice about any start-up situation.
