I have 5+ years industry experience (not all in one industry), an MBA, I hold a Series 7& 66 securities license, and Life Insurance Licenses, and yet I am told that I may not be able to get into the highly sought after asset/portfolio management side of business.
Am I reading too much into what I hear? Are there ways to break into the industry without going back to school to start over?
Please advise...

Dear David,
Who is giving you this advice? I suggest you do some informational interviews. Who's doing what you want to do? Find them & ask for 20 min. of their time (phone or in person). Have specific questions ready & ask for their opinions on what you need to do to get where you want to be.
