In Reply To: So, its been two years since my acquisition of an ivy-league degree and I'm still trying to figure what to do with my life. I graduated with a Landscape Architecture degree (yes, I mow lawns), and I've already been to the West Coast and back in search of a career. Currently, I am spending my time doing PowerPoint for a financial co. and looking for the ultimate meaning of life. I'm looking for a career that combines a creative eye and good business sense; with a lot of social flair. I was thinking of advertising; being an art buyer, whatever that means. But that whole selling products thing probably won't bode well on my conscience. Any words of wisdom? Clueless.
Message: Unfortunately Corporate America is (generally) at a state where they advertise their "creativity" "thinking out of the box" "hiring different backgound" etc.... yet when hiring they have specific standard titlles and they are looking for people "who have done it before".. Of course once the candidates get the job, the companies do thell them to "we do things our own way". If you want to do something very different and very cool, you must freelance and get your foot in the door with boring projects, only once you have proven yourself you can be creative and try to sell your cool/different ideas. It happens in every field. Good luck!
