Hi,
I have over 7 years of experience working in the IT industry in Vancouver as project manager and systems analyst. I am contemplating going back to Hong Kong to work.
I have started submitting my resume to job sites in Hong Kong and I have received several intersted emails from recruiters on the positions I have applied for.
They all asked the same question: In the event that I am short-listed or if the employer wants to interview me, how do I propose setting that up?
The clear response would be to fly back and meet with them. But, I am thinking more of an economical solution, one that does not require me to take time off and fly back to Hong Kong and meet with them.
I was wondering if a "video-conference" or a "web-cast" session could replace the face-to-face meeting usually required for an interview. If you have other recommendations, I would be delighted to hear about them.
Your advise is greatly appreciated. I look forward to your feedback. Thank you very much!

at some point you will definitely need to meet them in person. no one will pay big money for an employee sight unseen. nor would you in sane mind take a job, move across the Pacific, uproot etc. without knowing exactly what you are getting into.
the problem is actually one for the recruiter to resolve. he is taking the 1/3 cut (unless he is a HK based firm). if you are to interview with a local firm, you will never get a ticket out there. but a multi-national will find the money for a ticket out there--$1-2k is peanuts for them--if they really see something in you. skip the recruiters.
