Hi,
I have over 7 years of experience working in the IT industry in Vancouver as project manager and systems analyst. I am contemplating going back to Hong Kong to work.
I have started submitting my resume to job sites in Hong Kong and I have received several intersted emails from recruiters on the positions I have applied for.
They all asked the same question: In the event that I am short-listed or if the employer wants to interview me, how do I propose setting that up?
The clear response would be to fly back and meet with them. But, I am thinking more of an economical solution, one that does not require me to take time off and fly back to Hong Kong and meet with them.
I was wondering if a "video-conference" or a "web-cast" session could replace the face-to-face meeting usually required for an interview. If you have other recommendations, I would be delighted to hear about them.
Your advise is greatly appreciated. I look forward to your feedback. Thank you very much!

Your idea is great! Offer that as a first step (before flying to them). Also, do they have other offices nearer to you where you could go for interviews (would be an easier trip)? Hope they will be offering to pay for your plane fare! Another idea: since you are submitting to far-flung places, how about including a video tape of you along with your resume (saying a bit about yourself, why you'd like to work for them, why you are such an excellent candidate, etc.)? If this sounds good to you, script it carefully and -- before sending -- ask for feedback from people you trust to be totally honest about the tape.
