In Reply To: I am a physician out of school about 10 years, double boarded and near fluent in several languages. I have been thinking about making the jump into Strategy Consulting for some time. Due to some downsizing at my hospital I'm thinking this might be a good opportunity to make the jump. I am curious if anyone in the industry thinks 37 (will be 38 next fall) is too old to enter the field as an entry level APD candidate. Which firms are more receptive to older applicants (as opposed to the typical "28 year old post MBA" candidate)? Are there any advantages to coming in as an older candidate? Thanks!
Message: Hi there, I would say it's only too late if you say so. I am 38 years old and will be changing careers within the next few months. I've been accepted to grad school which will also qualify me to teach. Something I've been considering for a long time. I have a few other options as well. I know of someone who commenced medical school at the age of 50 after being a highschool science teacher for many years. 37 is young! I'm sure with your credentials you will have no trouble getting hired. I have read recently that the job market is strong for older candidates but by older, the author was referring to 50+ !! good luck!!
