Regarding professional help:
* Finding the "right" professional career assistance is crucial. Find out EXACTLY what they do and whether or not they take PERSONAL responsibility for the consequences of their assistance/advice.
* Ask to speak with some references.
* Go to www.ripoffreport.com
and see if there are any complaints about the firm AND/OR the individual who might be helping you. e.g., check BOTH "CareerKeys" AND
"Tom Kellum" or RL Stevens or McKenzie Scott or BH Int'l etc..
In my (admittedly biased) opinion, once you have determined/discovered/decided WHAT you might want to do, remember: FINDING open positions is ONE THING; GETTING ACCESS to them is a whole different matter. Job hunting is a Marketing problem, so make sure you get a marketing solution...and a snappy new resume and mailing service is NOT much of a marketing solution. You are going to need intelligent, relevant STRATEGIES for EACH step of the way.

Thank you for your information Tom, it is very helpful and greatly appreciated. After going on www.ripoffreport.com, I got some insight into the company I mentioned in my initial e-mail. When you say see how the company takes personal responsibility/accountability, is there something in particular you feel a company should be willing to do, or that a reputable company would do? I agree that there is more to an effective marketing campaign than a new resume in mass mailing, unfortunately, that seems to be a major part of what alot of entities suggest. In addition, they recommend networking. Networking is obvious to me, but also have tried this to some degree. Unfortunately, my personal network is not yielding results, and I do not need someone to just tell me to "network". So I am a bit concerned as to what "effective marketing strategies" a professional might be able to provide to me. Anything in particular you think I should inquire about?
Again, thank you for your help. It is truly appreciated.
Regards,
