I am curious about career opportunities for a m.d. with license. I am about to finish a 5 year residency and am considering other options. I am rather burnt out with medicine at this time.
I am very open to different ideas. I would consider going back for further education if necessary.
I consider myself to be very hard working and I am a good "problem solver". I am well organized and self-motivated.
Thanks in advance.

A couple ideas come to mind:
1)you could be a senior member of a medical professional association;
2)you could be a consultant/account manager for a major radiology or other large medical equipment manufacturer or distributor, working primarily with hospitals;
3)large pharma companies often have internal consultants with life science backgrounds;
4)you could join the International Coach Federation and put a profile on their on-line referral service ($350 total or so) and provide "coaching" to other MD students/residences who struggle with the lack of work/life balance and other issues. At this time, no Coaching credentialing is required and an MD would be a great background for others in the medical fields;
5) you could become a speaker with a continuing education organization for nursing, MDs, etc., just be prepared for a lot of travel. I attended a CE workshop on diet and illness done by an MD and she was a great speaker. It was to keep up my clinical license and a variety of people where in the room (about 400 people.
6) You could teach a health management, or undergraduate class on some related topic at a local college/university as an adjunct faculty member. Don't necessarily need an education degree, just advanced degree in your specialty area. This really opens doors.
The last three options may not comprise a full-time career, but can add some diversity to your resume.
I will keep thinking outside the box on your behalf. Good luck!!
