Hello,
In May I will graduate as a Naturopathic Doctor in Canada. I do not plan on opening up a practice as I have over $100 000 in school debt from 8 years of education. Believe it or not, I've managed to pay for $80 000 by working summer jobs. Only about 1/100 Naturopathic Doctors make hundreds of thousands of dollars, and the rest often make < 10 000/year after all the expenses. I hate this outlook.
I can't work for the government because they don't recognize our schooling, I can't work for a municipality because they only want RN's (eventhough I have double the amount of education as an RN), to get a sales job for a natural supplement company are extremely few and far between because these companies are so small - but I hate sales regardless. I have no idea what I am going to do. I am totally overqualified & totally underqualified at the same time. I have even applied to teachers college, but my undergrad marks are likely too low & my postgrad marks are not recognized by any universities.
Any suggestions???
I am interested in natural cosmetics & body care companies, but again, these compainies are so tiny (ie. 5-30 workers) that I feel there is no hope. |

I left a chiropractic practice several years ago and felt like I was faced with the same problems. I now have an MBA and someone suggested medical device companies. I'm looking into this option. There appears to be good opportunities in medical device and biotechnology.
This may be a path to pursue.
