I've been working as an investment analyst at a large financial instituion. This is my first real job out of college, and I have been there for approx 8 months now. So far I think things with my work are going well. Bosses are impressed at my ability to learn and take on more responsibility.
However, my current job is not in my primary field of interested, and I knew this at the time that I took the job. Still, the job market was very tough at the time I graduated from school so I thought it was good to take this job and gain some experience at large company.
Now, eight months later, I may have the opportunity to join a small, but somewhat unstable company doing what I've always wanted - being an equity analyst. Although I work currently work in finance the skills I'm learning now are only partly transferable to equity analysis.
Should I go after this new opportunity to learn what I want, or stick to the two year analyst program which I'm currently in. I don't want leaving to affect my marketability. Please advise.
Thanks
