What's the chances of a 40 something getting a senior positon at C1 with the right credentials and experience? Has anyone seen an older worker get hired directly into management or are promotions mainly from within? |

As far as middle management, positions are definitely NOT limited to internal candidates. In fact, that's become a bit of an issue in recent times. Generally we look for external candidates with managerial experience in either consulting (we love McKinsey!) or competing firms such as Citi, Chase, big banks etc.
I would say a more generic background isn't going to give you a great shot- recently I've seen a number of managers with 10+ years experience in other fields get offered Tier 6 (up to first level manager), which is likely way below your current pay grade. Obviously, my opinions are far from law, and C1 does have rather erratic hiring practices at times. Also, I don't think your age will be a factor if you have the right experience.
Good luck miffed2
