Have you been retracked for a DA role? If so it would probably be tough to become a BA because somewhere along the line someone thought you'd make a better DA. If you have originally interviewed for a DA role but realize you're more interested in a BA position you should bring that up. It is only relevant to mention to the recruiter or hiring manager (interviewers aren't in the position to do anything about it).
Salary: BA's get 3-7k more.
Advancement: DA's and BA's probably have similar chances earlier in their career (first 5 years). Beyond that you get into a whole new career direction.
DA I - IV are just levels of the job. Think of it as Jr. Sr. etc.
