i have been thru 3 powerdays now and several phone calls. i do very well and i get the impression that i am a strong candidate, and then i get the "no thanks" email. but then strangely enough i am contacted by someone in HR the same day as the email to find out they want to consider me for another similar position. i have gotten the "no thanks" email 3 times now and i am working on my 4th.
i htink i choke when it comes to the behavior interview -- my brain just does not compartmentalize my life that way!
and some of the questions are LAME!
"tell me about a time when you relied upon someone else's expertise to get your work done."
that's kind of like asking "tell me about a time when you had to eat someone else's cooking."
A: I cut it into pieces with a fork and knife and ate it.
i just do not get the point of some of the questions.
the personality survey and the case study i understand... but not the behavior interview.
another quesiton i hate:
Q: tell me about a time when you failed or missed a deadline.
The Real Answer: i do not fail. i consider my abilities before i take on a task, and if i do not have the resources before i start a task, then i go and get those resources. this includes knowledge, ability, personnel, and materials.
i tried to answer it truthfully, but the interviewer refused to accept my answer. when she pressed me, i felt forced into answering it another way.
look: i am VERY good at what i do -- but i cannot seem to get that across in the interview. can anyone help???
