as far as I know most signing bonuses are paid in your first pay check - mine was.
Some negotiated for the bonus to be paid sooner but that is old school from the internet recruiting heyday.
Engman may have a different story but it conflicts with my experience over the last 2-4 years.
Vacation:
I don' know if it is negotiable - certainly not for an undergrad hire but maybe for more senior hires. You can buy a week of vacation as part of the health plan. |

My recruiter also told me that I would get my bonus after one week of receiving my signed letters. She said that it was meant to be used also to defray relocation costs.
