Thanks for the value-added post and your three insightful points...none of which, I might add, have anything to do with unit cost. But then, having the title of your post actually pertain to its content does limits one's degrees of freedom. But I digress. Let me comment on your three dandy insights.
1) Einstein was right in his definition of insanity. He also observed that one must be smart enough to remember what one did so that he can do it again and again. Given this, it's unlikely that you, personally, will ever have to worry about insanity.
2) Paid for hours worked? Obiviously you know nothing about the basic consulting business model. You WISH you got paid for the hours you worked versus your annual salary.
3) Widgets. I think Socrates said it best when it comes to widgets, "Capit unus scio unus".
