In Reply To: For the third time around. I understand that you've applied to M/B/B...I never thought you didn't...read my post again if you have to. (I can be as patronizing as you) What I was surprised at was that you'd apply to M/B/B AND CG. Seemed to me like a weird combination. But to each her own. You don't have to have work in a specific practice to know the primary type of work that's done there. At CG and other SI's it's tech solutions implemenations...whether the practice is financial services , SCM or Pharma. What is called strategy is most likely business requriements and architecture documentation and vendor down selecting. I'm just curious, why CG? With your Phd, why not ACN or Monitor or a VC firm that deals in biotech? It just seems to me that your choices are class A strategy firms (that are not at all involved in tech nitty gritty) and a class C tech nitty gritty firm that doesn't do any strategy. What's the logic?
Message: ey_ore, forget this dude, he doesn't have the right attitiude to be a consultant anyway. He'll get spat on at M/B/B and CG might then pick him up and sell his body on a 10 year outsourcing deal. to the dude (lucre..): try and have a positive attitude and try to understand what you read, it might be a start towards the personality expected of a consultant. a consultant is not merely someone who works at the client's site. knowing how to communicate appropriately, ignore the superficialities, abstractization, accept diversity, bring a positive attitute, humbleness, managing streams of information to/from/between various levels and entities is what makes a consultant. i've intentionally left out the analytical and problem solving skills cause that's not what purely differentiates consultants from others. that's all. now you can either try to understand what i've written and take something positive out of it (like you could/should have done from ey_ore's posts) or you can just get defensive and pick on the small details which you didn't like. your choice. i don't even know you. i don't usually hang out on the CG boards. i don't care.
