In Reply To: 1. Remove the incompetent regional leads in Midwest, East, South and West (Most lack vision, leadership and winning attitude) 2. Remove all the national leads including platform leads (Most of them are very incompetent). 3. Recruit people at the leadership level from the consulting industry and elsewhere. 4. Strategic acquisition of small but successful consulting firms in key areas. 5. Define the firm??s vision for next few years and follow through the vision. 6. Fire all VPs who are incompetent (less than 25% of current VPs are fit for the position). 7. Develop strategic partnership with hardware and software vendors (Now the partnership is limited to some sales activities). 8. Focus on people development (training, training and more training) 9. Encourage people to write books, publish papers and give presentations etc. 10. Remove the current NA leadership and replace with someone from a strategic consulting firm (Mckinsey or BCG).
Message: This could be the start of an interesting thread. If you begin with #'s 1,2,3,6 and 10 you might be better off considering this. Simply exit NA as expeditiously as possible. NA barely breaks even and the cost of the transformation your propose would be incredible high given the risk premium you'd have to pay to hire on stellar talent...not to mention the reality that the NA business may never be sufficiently differentiatable to establish sustainable profitability. Exit NA...focus on European market where CG has some credibility. Invest in being the best where CG has a fighting chance of actually building and maintaining sufficient scale and differentiation to be profitable. Do all the firing and removing of incompetent regional, national and VP leads prior to selling off NA...take your own low hanging fruit. I can assure you the firm that buys CG NA will take the project lead stream and contract revenue and vaporize the dead weight within minutes of buying the CG's paper.
