In Reply To: Hi all, I was just poking around on the site and saw some of the backlash about our PR guy trying to work his magic on the boards. I'm a "real employee" -- coming up on 4 years -- and I'm also a new mom (18 mo old baby and another one on the way) so I feel qualified to answer any questions you have without the PR spin. Campbell gave me two weeks paid maternity, 6 weeks short term disability, and a month of FMLA which came out to 3 months of away time. My manager and the exec management here was very flexible about my return date and also very accomodating to me when I needed to adjust to all of the postpartum/new baby/daycare issues upon my return. Several other women are pregnant here now and it will be interesting to see how their leaves are handled. I was somewhat of a precedent, shall we say. Yet here I am about to do it again, so that should say something!
Message: Great news that things are getting better for work life balance. When my friend worked at CA - there were no women consultants that had children and only one that I knew who was pregnant who ended up leaving the company when she had her baby. If I may ask, what position are you that they were so generous? Although I must say, there was a huge discrepancy between people who were hired in the NC office and other offices (my friend said that NC people got better pay, worked less hours, seemed to travel less, etc) So although it seems that there are many of your colleagues who have the opportunity to have children in NC, what about the other offices?
