thanks unc, i'll definitely keep you all updated ...
regarding 'likewhatever's post i understand and agree with the 20% rule, but i personally feel that joining BAH would be a great career move that will definitely make me more marketable (sooner) in the consulting field. so even though i wouldn't want a pay cut, i would settle for equal pay (worse case scenario).
and about using the word deserve, you are correct, i should have used 'NEED' lol ...

see if you can gather up some additional "benefits" at your current company you can counter with BAH.
Dont lie, but lets say their benefits are better. That equates to x # of dollars.
Or if your commute is much farther and will cost x dollars in gas and tolls.
You get the idea.
If you can round up this sort of information, you can then go back to BAH and equate it a dollar amount you would like to get above the current offer they gave you.
Just an idea.
