Absolutely it makes a difference. A principal or parnter that refers someone in is going to get more attention and phone call a little quicker. That being said, any referral is better than no referral. Quick stat in 2004 BAH got 200,000+ applications for about 2,000 positions and more than 50% of new hires are referrals. Once you get the referral though it's 100% up to you to prove you can make it here, there is not much the person referring you can do to help you after getting your name in the system other than bringing your name to the attention of a recruiter. |

...for reading between the lines of my question and confirming that post referral the "referrer" cannot "streamline" the process no matter how senior they are. :-)
