It is highly unlikely that you could migrate to a domain team such as Consumer Goods without an MBA (or other advanced degree) from a top school.
The salary issue really depends upon which career path you are on. On average, staff on a Strategy career track will earn more than staff on a Design or Transformation track, but that doesn't preclude some staff on Design or Transformation from making the same or more than staff on a Strategy track. |

How would some one with an advanced degree like MS from a top 5 school in that particular functional area go about making it to a domain team from a design team if coming in as a Sr.Consultant?
About the salaries, I have heard the same from others, looks like functional folks end up making less. I would imagine that the billing rate for design and transformation kind of engagements is less that the strategy piece of it.
