I work in IBM BCS public svc sector in DC and want to get into Mngt Consulting (Strategy) projects. I do not really see that at IBM (if at al. IT Strategy is what I see at IBM) I dont have an MBA but have 8yrs work exp(6 in Finance/Accounting, M&A, Business Process.) (2+ Consulting) I Finished my undergrad in 04 but worked full time throughout college. (And to my belt I have engaged in two start-up companies)
With someone with my experience, is it difficult to transition into BAH WCB? Esp without an MBA? I want to ideally work at a Bain, BCG or McK.
In addition what company (IE: BAH, ACN, DC etc.) would be a better branding leverage to get on those type of projects and work my way into Mngmt Consulting? Help!!!! |

There really isn't a big market for strategy consulting anymore. Yes, there are lots oflittle projects here and there, but the market has shifted mostly to large scale restructing projects.
So if you want to do "pure" strategy, you will almost certainly need an MBA from a top 10 school. You will also need very deep skills in economics and finance.
Frankly, I wouldn't look to any of the companies you mention (yes, including BAH) as strong brands in strategy. You should try to work for Monitor, Marrakon, or a similar boutique company first.
