What?... ok, so the radio operation does not make (or strive to make) the big bucks as any other news/talk radio station would do, what it *does* is that it gets the BBG name out there far better than any other media. On this context, BTV is NOT real TV, as it goes out only on cable and satellite... big deal, if their presence were to be on a local NY real flagstation then perhaps it could cast a shadow on radio. BBR has its quirky issues, one of them the 'Simply Putz' show and the overnight simulcast of London BBG TV (man are those guys dull and booooring) but besides that, as far as a NEWS/TALK format goes it is on par with the other same-themed locals in NY.
Message: what?? YES, it's never been about the money... it has always been about getting the bloomberg name out. but here's the problem - since Winkler/kohN took over, bbr has lost more than a third of its audience. So the station isn't living up to its goal of effectively getting the BBG name out. Simplyputz is just one of many problems. that had to be dumbest show to put on a biz radio station during the middle of the day. but the station manager came from boston and hired his talk show frineds from Boston and winkler/kohn were clueless enough to be convinced it would work. London tv on radio at night. another reason why winkler/kohn don't know a thing about radio. every part of the programming day, sunday through saturday should be geared toward building an audience. the bbr dimwits think only weekday mornings are important and neglect to keep give the right resources to the rest of the day. weekend programming is a wasteland of pre-recorded segments with no logical flow, or relation to anything. more blunders are bound to happen. the ME of broadcast is a TV peron... knows nothing about radio, but thinks he can use his TV ideas to make radio better. HA! what a laugh. WBBR is rated #37 in the new york market. Again... what more needs to be said when DIsney radio pulls in more listeners??
