In Reply To: How many certs are "typical" For that matter are there any suggested ways for finding out how my salary compares to my coworkers? Do certs awarded typically go up at 6 month review regardless of performance? I've been working for a few months now, but still don't know if I'm being compensated fairly. I am fearing the salary sounded good but is still below my peers.
Message: There's really no such thing as "typical". Cert awards range from just a handful for lesser-skilled positions to 3 or 4 digit numbers for senior managers. The ratio of certs to salary also varies from dept to dept and manager to manager, although there have been some efforts in the last few years to at least be more consistent within a given department. The only way to know what your coworkers are making is to ask them. I wouldn't worry so much about what your co-workers are making. See if you think you're being paid fairly compared to the rest of the world out there. Just remember, you're not at an investment bank that's printing money(AVERAGE comp at Goldman this year: $521k)
