First of all, I have been with Bloomberg for 8 years. The thing I like the most are the people. Most everyone I come into contact with daily are very nice, easy to work with people. When I have an issue that needs to be sorted no matter what department I work with most everyone is always willing to help me. Sure there is the office politics and people talking about others, but thats at every office no matter how big or small. Another thing is the pay and benefits. I have a friend that does almost exactly what I do. I make $15000 a year more than him. I make a GREAT salary and is WAY above industry standard. The benefits are great. As I said before, when my daughter was born we didnt pay a dime...NOTTA. I had 2 Weeks paid leave that HR stated could be extended if I felt the need. (which blew me away). I get 4 Weeks a year vaction excluding 9 paid holidays. When you travel for the company, which I rarely do, you stay at the best hotels around. There is basically no limit as to what you can spend on meals. Every year Bloomberg puts on a summer party in different regions, that the ENTIRE company can go to. If you work in remote areas, Bloomberg will fly you to NY, put you up in a hotel, so you can attend the party. Theres all kinds of food, drinks and plenty to do for the kids. It is like a big carnival where eveything is free.
To be fair, I have heard from people I am close to that work in TV etc.. that say operations is totally different then a lot of other departments at Bloomberg. I dont know if its the management or if Bloomberg just looks at operations different. But, from what I see if you work hard and do your job, Bloomberg rewards you for that. Thats been my experience. Hope this helps. |
