In Reply To: I have sent many file attachments to the same recipients over and over. I sent 14 different attachments to my Manager just Friday. He recived all of them FINE! Look why dont we save this board for employees of Bloomberg. I dont mind sharing thoughts with other employees that have some legitimate gripes. But, for someone that has left the company and most likely works for a competitor what you say doesnt have much credence.
Message: Send a message with a file attachment "abc.doc" with some content, let's say the text "ABC". Make sure the recipient keeps the message in his "inbox". Then you edit the file on your PC, change the text to "DEF" and send the file in a new message (upload to PFM again) with the file same name (new content) to the same recipient. The recipient will, no matter which message/file he opens, only get see the new content, "DEF". The reason is that "attachments" are stored in a central location (PFM), shared by everyone who have access to it, and access is granted when you "send" it to another user in an email. g2p PS: Nope, wasn't run out of Bloomberg; I left voluntarily after weeks and months of frustration watching incompetence and nepotism abound. Once the new job was lined up, it was simply a matter of managing the exit process and leaving happily with my diginity restored and a couple of T-days and paychecks in my back pocket. PS2: Yeah, my performance appraisal was so low I only received a bonus of $24,000 after my first year and was on track for a similar one before I left. I was sent to management training, headed up several initiatives for process and PM improvement, and my reviews were consistently "above expectation". PS3: And no, I don't work for a competitor - I now work in a very different sector. I decided that the Financial Services sector offered too little opportunity and flexibility, so now - don't laugh - I develop consulting/services for the government sector. PS4: Why am I here, writing all this stuff? Well, I find what you still-employed manage to write at times just as amazing as those who have left. But, most of all, I would hate to see one more person get snared in by BBG. "Snared in" you say? Yes, snared in! BBG has a way of making skilled but moderately unhappy just blinded and tied-down enough to stay by offering good looking women, free food/snacks, and most importantly a good salary and benefits package. It becomes very hard to leave, because people don't know if they can achieve the same return elsewhere. So, they stay. And they become more unhappy, but still they stay. I can't tell you how many of these people I met during my time at BBG, and I wish they would read this board and realize that there are plenty of opportunities out there and that they need to yank off the band-aid and find something else. So, I'm not here because I'm on a mission. Sometimes I'm here to piss you off, sometimes to get a laugh out of or from others, and sometimes it's to offer some crudely worded but self-experienced advice. But mostly, it's a way to waste some time after the house has gone to sleep and I'm winding down. Thus it is done, good night.
