In Reply To: The executive board, of which Tom is a part of, just approved a huge project that is NOT Bloomberg software. He was said as being on board with it too - All sales, billing, accounts receivable, etc. will be handled through SAP. SS19, SS21, etc. will pull data from SAP, as well. It's already been used in house for almost 3 years for accounts payable, purchasing, warehouse management, etc. Adding the billing functionality is a big fundamental change for the company. Most will comment that this slow migration of the internal business functions from the BB to SAP is another sign that the company is propping itself up to be sold. No acquiring company will want to deal with a hodgepodge of customized, propreitary software to run a business. Especially when that software is far less featured than a standardized off the shelf package.
Message: We have been using the SAP system in operations for about three years now. I like the system. It makes everyone accountable for the hardward that is used internal and at Client sites. Before, there was no accountablilty with equipment. You could order 4 routers anytime to anywhere with no checks and balances. Now, if a piece of equipment goes to a client, SAP makes you return one. They told us when we went to class for it a few years ago that it was going to eventually be used for billing, accounts receivable etc.. So, it doesnt suprise me.
