Hi folks,
I am starting on February with the training program and then will end up with one of the groups in R&D.
I need some advice about the training program and working hours after that. It is my first job after many years in academia. Do I need to prepare for the training ? I may have one week gap before starting, should I study anything in particular ? I have heard that interface between C/C++ and FORTRAN may be of use. Should I learn FORTRAN ? I do not know what to think since my interview was 100% C++.
Anyways. I have also read in here that the training requires long hours and it is like a 10 week long interview where I will be constantly monitored for performance, skills etc. I have no problem with that. After that, what is the norm working hours in R&D ? Obviously I want to make a very good impression.
Finally, this message board is somewhat troubling for new employees, even though it seems to be that most of the complaints come from outside R&D. I always thought that Bloomberg is one of the top places to work in the city (NY) and I was so happy to land the job. I still am and cant wait to start. Please send any advise you can.
