In Reply To: Hi. This goes out to all those lucky folks who already work at BE. I'm a recent MBA graduate and I'm trying figure out the best way to arrange my resume (for Management Analyst) so that HR will contact me for an interview. 1) Is there such a thing as the "perfect" resume that BE favors? 2) How did you prepare yours so that HR took that extra step by calling you in for an interview? 3) Also what skills did you highlight? 4) Finally does this company hire older applicants (35+) for a position like this? Thanks so much for your help.
Message: My former MD attended a job seminar and got lots of great advice which he past on to me. Your resume should include technical skills and business skills (problem solving, project management, troubleshooting, quality analysis, training, etc). More importantly, include impact statements in the body (try really hard, but not everything you've done can show $$ or time impact) that are about 2 lines/sentences long. For example: "Created a customer service database used by 100 representatives" doesn't say much. "Created a customer service database that decreased resolution time by 3 days on average and saved the company $2 million per year" shows impact. If you haven't worked until this point maybe due to school or child commitments, there's still impact statements you can find -- led a volunteer group? helped at the kids' school? brought in the highest sales at Macy's? top waitress? With an MBA, I would agree with the previous answer to go for a consultant position. But I know Sr Consultants who were 50 years old at the time and I know an MA who's close to 40, so I wouldn't worry about the age thing.
