In Reply To: Thanks, this helps a lot. As a general rule, BAH hires undergrads as Consultants and then promotes those people to Sr. Consultants after approx. 2 years. Then, they are promoted to Associate after another 2-4 years. Once people earn a graduate degree, they are often brought in as an Associate, but many newly minted MA/MBAs are screwed over (on the public side) and made Sr. Consultants; which causes them to have to "pay their dues" for an ADDITIONAL 2ish years before they can be promoted to Associate. (It kind of sucks because you would think if they had been a little bit tougher during negotiations they could have come in as Associates and spent that time trying to get promoted to Sr. Associate, which is the level that is generally considered "senior.") Is there an equivalent dynamic at BearingPoint?
Message: You don't really have much of "gotta pay your dues". If you are performing at a level above, you will generally be able to move up the next cycle, or sometimes during an interim mid-year cycle. So worst case, with a good manager/MD, you'd have 1 year at the lower band.
