In Reply To: I certainly understand installing monitoring/filtering software for curtailing the access of employees to sites of objectionable content (pr0n, blogs, emails). But how enforceable is it to monitor employees if the visit Monster or Dice? The 'intellectual property theft' excuse is a load of bull. It is because it's so easy today to copy content out of networks by any means. iPods, USB flash drives, Gmail. There's no easy way to protect content. And I've never seen a well implemented document DRM system. What I've seen is that company's trust (expect?) employees *not* to take any intellectual property with them when they leave. Now I must confess (Bless me Father for I have sinned) that when I left BE I gave my Senior Manager a copy of evry document I ever produced, but I have a copy of them myself. As I do have copies of every document I ever made for all employers going back to 2001 at least. I digressed from the original topic, my apologies. Does any one know if this software works outside of BE's network and how it works?
Message: who gives a *uck ... you'd be an idiot to surf porn from work at any time of the day .. so what if a competitor name shows up .. you could be doing a SWOT analysis and need competitor info ... there's bigger issues in your careers to focus on .. this small shit is a distraction for both employees and BE ..get over the noise and focus on bigger things like finding a better place to work ...
